    I've always wondered why there is a complaint that the EBCM on C5 Corvettes up to the year 2000 is not repairable. Mine is 1999 and I have repaired the EBCM module myself and it has worked for the last 5 years without any problems. So I did something right.

      I drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the bottom of the pan. Let it drain over night and removed the pan. There was no fluid spill. Replaced the filter, used JB weld to plug the hole, replaced the pan and put exactly the same amount of fluid that was removed. Worked fine.

    It wouldn't be frames per second. If you have the ability to change your shutter speed to something greater than 1/60 (faster I should say - 1/80 or 1/160 etc), that should diminish the banding. Of course then you would have to open up your aperture (smaller F stop) or up the ISO if it becomes too dark when making the shutter speed faster if you have that ability on your camera.

    Suggestion for the the fork support: I use a 4x4 block of wood from an old post and cut an arch on one side to match the radius of the tire and cut it to the height that I want to keep the suspension from depressing to my desired height. Very cheap and easy.

    Be CAREFUL before you consider deleting the oil filter bypass. It SOUNDS like a good idea, right? Who wants unfiltered oil entering the engine??? However, Under certain circumstances, the bypass is necessary to avoid collapsing the oil filter element and blowing the filter right off the engine. I have had this happen on my racecar. When the oil is very cold, (like a sub-zero day in Minot, ND) the oil viscosity (thickness) gets very high. It is very difficult to push thick/cold oil through any filter element. This is when the bypass valve is intended to open and allow the thick/cold oil into the engine. The oil filter bypass valve works on oil filter pressure differential (or the pressure on either side of the filter. The differential is very low under most operating conditions. Except: extremely dirty filter and very high viscosity. I would NEVER delete the oil filter bypass on a street driven vehicle. Race engine? Different story.

      In my opinion, the 8 speed largely negates the need to regear, at least from a gas mileage perspective. The Trail Recon channel did a mpg comparison after regearing his Gladiator and saw very little improvement.

    I've made a few attempts now, renting a hammer drill and trying to set the anchors with my maxjax. Both failures big time as the anchors never set and then they became a total loss. What setting do you have the drill on? Should it not be on hammer drill? I'm wondering if that is my problem, using the hammer drill setting causes too loose of a hole? Nobody ever mentions what setting to use on their hammer drill. Thanks in advance.

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage 29 дней назад

      Sorry to hear you're having issues; very frustrating. I had it on hammer drill and used the base plate as a guide to keep the bit from jumping around on the start. What bit are you using? Make sure you get the holes very clean. I blew them out while holding the vacuum nozzle by the hole. There shouldn't be any concrete dust coming out. When you hammer the anchors in place, did they require some good hits to go in, or just drop in? When you say the anchors didn't set, I'm assuming you mean you weren't able to get 90 ft/lbs on the setting nut? How close were you getting? At this point, you may want to look into the epoxy anchors. Best of luck!

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage 29 дней назад

      The motor body does move just a little under load; completely normal though. Realistically, the torsion spring bar isn't perfectly straight, so it may have a little runout as it turns, which is what the motor is hanging on.

      You can typically look up the torque sequence online, or if you have a copy of the FSM, or access to repair guides like Alldata/Motologic/Mitchell, etc. There are also some good LS engine building books available with detailed information. I bought this book some years ago: amzn.to/4eapll1

    Does melling say this is necessary?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage 29 дней назад

      Melling used to have a nice tech video that showed this procedure; not sure if it's still available or not. But the general premise is to ensure the oil pump gear and housing are perfectly concentric to the crank before tightening down the oil pump housing bolts. This prevents any binding points between the gear and the housing through it's rotation.

    • @honcho714
      @honcho714 29 дней назад

      @ScrufsGarage I watches the video they have posted and it wasn't this procedure. I like this one better but isn't how melling says to do it , at least not currently .

    Great video and saved me hours. Thanks! I just installed the stubby version on my 2021 Willys. Because this is the most complete explanation I found for installing the bumper, overrider bar, and winch I'll add some notes based on my experience. Bumper install is pretty straightforward. Preventing the mounting bolts from getting pushed in while positioning was the hardest part. My LED fog lights did not need the brackets and just bolted right in. The foglight harness connection isn't great because there is zero slack in the harness. The plastic connector is tight against the frame and it will rub. I'll need to do something like tape it to the frame. I was able to keep the two inner tie-in brackets. The fit is a bit awkward with the winch plate supports but I feel better having them. The outer ones will not fit but the overrider bar has some brackets that create a similar arrangement. I feel I have a strong install now. Definitely need to remove the grill to drop the winch in. I installed a Warn EVO 10-S and needed to reroute some of the electrical cables because they were getting pinched against the grill. If RR would just add 1/4 inch of space then this would be a super easy install. I love the look of this bumper and the price is great for what you get.
